Meet Jose

I moved to Mountain View after graduating from Santa Clara University in 1999. I’ve been an active member of our community for over 24 years. Currently, I’m the Vice-Chair for the Mountain View Environmental Planning Commission (EPC).

My journey though, began years ago, first as a Castro (later Mistral) Elementary parent and member of the PTA. Then, in 2015 I was appointed to the Mountain View Whisman School District (MVWSD) Board of Trustees and was re-elected to the position in 2016. I had the honor of serving as President, Vice President and Clerk of the Board.

I raised my daughters, Grace and Elena, in Mountain View. During their elementary and middle school years, they loved to play soccer and I was lucky enough to coach them. Going to practice, seeing them play on the weekends - rain or shine - I was happy to be there.

For a living, I’m a Litigation Legal Specialist at a high-tech company. My experience as an IP patent litigation paralegal taught me to hear all sides, to think quickly, and to make the best decisions in a highly stressful environment. These lessons learned working in the legal field enabled me to contribute significantly as a School Board Trustee and member of the EPC. I will bring this experience to City Council and it will help me to better advocate for our community needs.

I still like to kick the soccer ball around with my girls in our spare time. I love to go to the courts and hit tennis balls and I really dig listening to Rock en Español (Spanish rock) from the 80s and 90s.
